The Rekkerz with Rex Rekker , Jamie Dean Rekker and friends According to Hollywood... REX, is often seen in his polished rock star image and almost always includes purple and flamboyant scarves or sarongs as part of his ensemble at Wreck Beach or onstage. Well spoken and articulate, Rex is a master at brainstorming full speed ahead in support of individuals and their projects. He has played an integral part with regards to the vision of WreckBeachCanada.com behind the scenes, both as a mentor and a friend. He was the very first person to step up and purchase a "Hall of Fame" membership in support of this WBC project on Jan. 9, 2010. Rex Rekker was the WBC's very first member (after Hollywood of course) and his name is listed for life on this website in acknowledgment. Rex's open heart combined with his integrity and clarity, offers others the opportunity to see through his eyes, expanding their creativity to both receive and share with power and confidence. An inspiration to others, Rex enlists a wacky crew of crazy characters to play and perform as The Rekkerz until the audience becomes the band by joining in their own self-expressive way. As far as the short and sweet of Jamie Dean Rekker goes and I will keep it short, this comment comes to mind..."hold your fire, he grows on you after awhile." |

A bit about The Rekkerz...
An ever-changing cast of characters, the concept of this band was the brainchild of visionary and talented musician Rex REKKER. Inspired by the amazing variety of wonderful musicians on Wreck Beach, that consistently play and jam together on any given day, Rex decided to create something kind of different, thus, The REKKERZ were born. You have likely seen the REKKERZ in many venues as headliners or as a support act in the myriad of benefit shows for good causes they play each year. REKKERZ performances are tailored for specific events and they select from a list of thousands of popular radio rock songs from the past 50 years.
Plenty of original material and organically
created jamming may also be experienced in an evening with The REKKERZ. Famous for their ever-evolving style of creative community musicianship, The REKKERZ really know how to bring down the house! |

 The eclectic and ever evolving Rekkerz band performing on street stages at the Made in Vancouver Festival Feb. 2010 during the Games events. Biography... It was a very sunny day in the summer of 1990 when a couple of rock musicians stumbled across each other at world famous Wreck Beach. Strangely enough these two odd souls happened to play the typical foundational band instruments, electric bass guitar and a drum kit. One must understand that an isolated beach accessed to by a torturous vertical wilderness trail is not the typical place to experience amplified rock. The mad drummer, Jamie Dean REKKER had invented a portable, packable drum kit and happily combined his two loves, beaching and bashing. It was through sheer fortitude and determination that he was trekking the hill on a regular basis to jam along with the acoustic guitars, hand drums and singers that frequent this marvelous place. This is THE venue for joyful creation and sharing of music. On this day Rex REKKER showed up with a recently developed battery powered amplification system and an electric acoustic bass guitar that still had the store stickers attached. Instant outdoor rock show. Instant Band. Along the line someone asked the band to play a house party and the trend continues to this day. Since then, The REKKERZ have played a lot of sunny days at world class Wreck Beach and performed for some great parties in strange locations. Highlights include Vancouver's Fabulous Commodore Ballroom and Koerners at U.B.C. The REKKERZ performing lineup unofficially numbers upwards of twenty individuals, with the current core group of Mackenzie REKKER, Jamie Dean REKKER and Rex REKKER delivering the rock gold and originals. The REKKERZ cast of musicians has been getting bigger and longer and some day they may even bring the whole crew in for rehearsal together when they actually make their own C.D. They have agreed to continue indefinitely until people get tired of partying (fat chance!). www.REKKERZ.com will soon be launched, so fans can find out more, chat, download pictures and music or just have fun at The REKKERZ expense. The REKKERZ are dedicated to the celebration of freedom and unlimited personal expression. Did we say fun? The REKKERZ are the soundtrack of the Wreck Beach experience, the axis upon which spins the circus of summer, the nonstop party of sunshine, the natural method of mellow. The REKKERZ musical cast numbers between 20 to 30 players of different levels of expertise, all with the attitude of a good time backed by a great song. Performances are presented at Wreck Beach most summer days and at parties and nightclubs in greater Vancouver.
